Felixvet Introduces Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride Injectable Solution for Sedation, Analgesia, and Preanesthetic Use in Dogs and Cats

Kansas City, Mo. — July 2, 2026 — Felixvet Inc. today announced the commercial availability of Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride Sterile Injectable Solution 0.5 mg/mL, an FDA-approved sedative, analgesic, and preanesthetic indicated for use in dogs and cats. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on September 19, 2025, Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride is indicated to facilitate clinical examinations, clinical procedures, minor surgical procedures, and minor dental procedures, and may also be used as a preanesthetic to general anesthesia in dogs and cats.

The product is also indicated for use as a preanesthetic to general anesthesia in both species.

Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride is available as a 0.5 mg/mL sterile injectable solution supplied in a 10 mL multidose vial.

The product is approved for intramuscular and intravenous use in dogs and for intramuscular use in cats. Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride is therapeutically equivalent to the pioneer product and provides veterinarians with an FDA-approved option for sedation, analgesia, and preanesthetic use in companion animal patients.
